Membrane Targeting: Glued by a Lipid to theER
نویسنده
چکیده
Opi1p, a transcription regulator of phospholipid metabolism in budding yeast, is retained in the endoplasmic reticulum by association with Scs2p. New research shows that binding of phosphatidic acid to Opi1p is a prerequisite for this targeting.

C2AB: A Molecular Glue for Lipid Vesicles with a Negatively Charged Surface
Artificial particulate systems such as lipid vesicles are found in a variety of biomedical applications such as drug delivery and targeting. More versatile layers of control would be added if liposomes could be glued together on demand while stabilized against fusion. Here, we present a two-component molecular glue composed of a protein and calcium ions, with each component specialized for fast...
متن کاملCharacterization of biophysical properties of single chloride channel in rat brain mitochondrial inner membrane by channel incorporation into bilayer lipid membrane
Introduction: Recent studies have shown the presence of Cl- channels in heart and liver mitochondrial membranes. In this work, we have characterized the functional profile of a Cl- channel from rat brain mitochondria. Methods: After removing and homogenizing the rat brain, the supernatant was separately centrifuged in MSEdigitonin, H2O and Na2CO3 and mitochondrial inner membrane vesicles wer...
متن کاملIn-vitro – In-vivo Characterization of Glimepiride Lipid Nanoparticulates Prepared by Combined Approach of Precipitation and Complexation
Novel lipid nanoparticulates (NCs) were developed by a combined approach of precipitation and complexation with an aim to improve the solubility, stability and targeting efficiency of glimepiride (GLP). GLP NCs were prepared by precipitation process using PEG 20000 and further complexed with phospholipon90G (P90G). The NCs were evaluated for physicochemical characterization, such as drug lo...
متن کاملA role for regulated binding of p150Glued to microtubule plus ends in organelle transport
A subset of microtubule-associated proteins, including cytoplasmic linker protein (CLIP)-170, dynactin, EB1, adenomatous polyposis coli, cytoplasmic dynein, CLASPs, and LIS-1, has been shown recently to target to the plus ends of microtubules. The mechanisms and functions of this binding specificity are not understood, although a role in encouraging microtubule elongation has been proposed. To ...
متن کاملDynactin-membrane interaction is regulated by the C-terminal domains of p150(Glued).
Dynactin has been proposed to link the microtubule-associated motor cytoplasmic dynein with membranous cargo; however, the mechanism by which dynactin-membrane interaction is regulated is unknown. Here we show that dynein and dynactin exist in discrete cytosolic and membrane-bound states in the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa. Results from in vitro membrane-binding studies show that dynein...
